MRSB Director Lt Col (K) Datuk Dr Ahmad Zaki Ismail said the company is currently the sole parachute supplier in Asia Pacific and wanted to convince TPDS to establish a one-stop service centre here before setting up a manufacturing plant.
He said the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday was a stepping stone for both companies to collaborate and expand the parachute services.
"The MoU will allow us to set up an integrated one-stop service centre here and we have plans to transfer all the technology of producing parachutes to Malaysia in the near future," he told Bernama in an interview on the sidelines of the 13th Defence Services Asia 2012 (DSA) which ended today.
"Apart from Malaysia, we are also supplying to customers in Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, which are our major customers, as well as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India and Singapore," he said.

KUALA LUMPUR, (Bernama) -- Metamorphise Resources Sdn Bhd (MRSB), a parachute supplier, plans to produce parachutes for various industries in Malaysia through a proposed joint-venture with a United States-based parachute manufacturer, Tactical Parachute Delivery System Inc (TPDS).
At present the company supplies parachutes to all government agencies which needed the products, which are imported through TPDS.
"Apart from Malaysia, we are also supplying to customers in Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines, which are our major customers, as well as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India and Singapore," he said.
Ahmad Zaki MRSB, which will be the official dealer for TPDS, has targeted sales of RM100 million for this year.
"The setting up of the one-stop service centre will boost our company''s sales and help us to achieve our goal," he said, adding that TPDS has obtained the licence from the Federal Aviation Administration of the US Department of Transportation and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to manufacture parachutes.
Besides supplying parachutes and services, the company also provides all the equipment which related to parachute.
In addition, he said the company is also eyeing the Middle East markets after it received many orders during the DSA.
"The United Arab Emirates has put in orders for our products and since there are interests from other Middle Eastern countries, we plan to expand our network there," he said.
