Successful Launching of the Damen OPV 6610

11 May 2010 -- On the 7th of May 2010 Damen Shipyards Galati successfully launched the Damen Offshore Patrol Vessel 6610 for the Romanian Border Police.
This new Damen vessel type was christened by Mrs. Andreea Niculiu and was witnessed by Mr. Vasile Blaga, Minister of Administration and Interior, among a vast crowd of workers of Damen Shipyards Galati.
Other departments involved in this project and who joined the ceremony were the Ministry of Administration and Interior, Ministry of Public Finance and the General Inspectorate of the Border Police, Romania.
The vessel is being built with Schengen financial support, as part of the agreement to comply to the Schengen programme by Romania.
The OPV 6610 will be handed over to the Romanian Border Police on the end of September 2010.
